NAPOLEON HILL

Considering the part that Think And Grow Rich was to play in my life, my contact with Napoleon Hill, the book's author was more providential than accidental.

My wife, Esther, and I were visiting an uncle, now a reverend gentleman, in December 1983. As we were about to leave, I saw where some books were scattered on the ground. Being someone who was hooked to books, I could not but scan the titles on the ground with my eyes.

Immediately my eyes rested on two titles. One was Think And Grow Rich. Next to it was Success Through Positive Mental Attitude, co-authored by Napoleon Hill and his protégé, W. Clement Stone.

Grabbing the two books, I held them up and asked our host, Bishop Dr. George Amu of Good News Miracle Bible Church International (he was not ordained then) if I could have them. Without hesitating, he said I could.

Looking back at what I've been able to achieve as a result of reading these books, especially Think And Grow Rich, I've not stopped asking myself, supposed he had said 'No".

Well, thank God, he did not.

Today, it is one of my goals to tell as many people as will listen to me that they should read this ook. If you read it and get even half the inspiration I got from it, it will be enough to separate you from poverty forever.

BRIAN TRACY

Brian Tracy is an influential writer. Just read one of his many titles and you will see what I mean. He knows his subjects inside out. And he writes in such an engaging manner that you have no difficulty understanding what he's trying to put across.

For someone whose works are so powerful, instructional and motivational, I've not stopped wondering how it was as late as 1995 before I first heard about him. I must give thanks to Bode Ayodele, one of the four men that I assembled to team up with me in the production of the ground-breaking magazine, SuccessDigest. which its readers gave the head-swelling alias, Nigeria's No. 1 Life Changing magazine, for introducing him to me.

Bode had gone on and on about Brian, extolling him to the high heavens. "If you read one of his books, Maximum Achievement, you will know what you have been missing," Bode enthused, sounding more like someone taunting another who claims he's read so many inspirational books but has not read the work of one of the giants among the life-changing writers.

In truth, when I read the Maximum Achievement, which Bode provided, I fell in love with the author instantly. The book was so practical, so transformational that I could not resist using extract from it as SuccessDigest's book bonus for the September 1996 edition.

And that edition practically sold out, the first edition of SuccessDigest that would do so since its launch. From that time onward, Nigerians have not relented in demanding for Brian Tracy's books. As a matter of fact, the sales record of SADC Bookstores, our outlet for marketing the works of the authors we publicize in the magazine, shows that Brian's books were among the highest selling titles.

While I'm still on this topic, I should relate what happened to the copy of Maximum Achievement that Bode brought to our office. The book disappeared mysteriously and we were never able to trace it till this day. I had to buy another copy for Bode when I acquired mine.

That should sound as a warning to you if you love to keep the work of authors that you profited from their writings, as I and many other people that I know do, not to leave Brian Tracy books lying about carelessly unless you've insured them against theft.
